18th PanCare Meeting to be held in Erice

The 18th PanCare meeting will be held in Erice, Italy from 01 – 03 Nov 2016.

Erice has been chosen as the meeting venue because 10 years have passed since PanCare members convened in this fascinating village in Sicily to attend the “Cure and Care After Childhood Cancer” workshop when the “Erice Statement” about childhood cancer survivors was drafted. The Statement was published in the European Journal of Cancer, translated into at least 7 languages and was one of the main pillars upon which the PanCare Network was founded in 2008.

On the afternoon of 01 November, the network will celebrate of the 10th anniversary of the Erice Statement. Distinguished speakers have been invited from Europe and the United States to present their views on the history and perspectives of childhood cancer survivorship, what we have achieved and the work that remains to be done. The meeting will then continue on 02 – 03 November with discussions and presentations and will mainly focus on the development and dissemination of guidelines for long-term follow-up.
